No other details were given as to the arrangement of the buyout.

Whattheyplay.com was founded and created by John Davison and Ira Butler two years ago, where Davison stepped down from being Editor-in-chief of the 1up Network. The website talks about videogames, but in the context that it discusses in a way that parents can understand what their kids are playing. John Davison is a regular on 1up’s flagship podcast Listen Up!

Brad’s Take: First of all, if you are a parent of a child 18 or under who regularly plays videogames, your favorites should have whattheyplay.com in the dropdown. It’s a fantastic site that takes no only gamers seriously, but parents as well.

That being said, I’m almost afraid that IGN will bury this site like it buries TeamXbox, GreenPixels, GameSpy and all of the other sites that it acquires. Whattheyplay is a fantastic site that deserves attention, I just hope IGN knows that.
