IGN reports through their Xbox Live channel that Microsoft has more or less taken away the XBLA file size cap, which has been a problem in the past with some companies (such as Konami and Capcom).

In the beginning, Microsoft imposed a 50MB limit per game on XBLA. Later, they rose the limit to 150MB. In between now and that time, games reaching 500MB, 700MB and 1GB (Shadow Complex) have been released on the system. Erik Brudvig spoke to Scott Austin, Microsoft’s director of digital games, who says that the limit for Arcade games is 2GB. That’s limited to the actual hardware limitation when it comes to XBLA…not a supposed limit Microsoft is sanctioning.

Brad’s Take: Not much more to say then “Why didn’t they do this sooner?”

The only other thing I’d be weary of is companies padding the limit purposely and charging a premium due to the “size of the file”.
