Damn it, why did I pay $5 for this?! – Peggle’s $1 Sale a Smash Hit
Sales of Peggle on iPhone have skyrocketed after PopCap dropped the price of the App to $1, as evidenced by MTV Multiplayer Blog. In the article, it was stated that before the sale, Peggle was at #60 in the App Store. After? #1.
Brad’s Take: Hmm…remember that one article that was put on last week about the developer who says no money can be made on the App Store?
Well, okay, that might be overdoing it. Peggle is still a wildly popular game and if it was $1 on my Microwave I would have bought it like crazy myself. But this does prove a point: Market and gauge your audience well and the cash will come.
Also make an addicting game that is like digital crack and people like me that will buy it on nearly every system (I own it on PC, DS, iPod Touch AND XBLA myself)
